Hutton Dressed as Lamb
For Belfast Pride 2016, performing artist Gemma Hutton sought to be the first out lesbian to perform her own headlining stand-up set in Northern Ireland. This push to perform magnetised a group of queer artists in Belfast to make this idea reality.
I met Gemma one day in a communal arts space and heard her say "Aw f*ck this!" and looked at her screen. There I saw my home-away-from-home, the QLab screen. I walked up and asked her if she wanted help, and suddenly I was her sound and projections designer. We had a turnaround of three days and made it happen.
I recorded the set that night and asked Gemma if she would be open to a larger audience hearing that night. With her "yes!" Smash/Cut (my sound art podcast) had its second episode in our Project Ireland mini-series. You can hear that episode below!
